That the hurricane caused disinterment
of so many is just weird. Weeks later,
they are still finding folks.
Burial is still better than cremation.
My kids still talk about when
we made a trip to the keys and
ended up out on the old piece
of the 7 Mile Bridge. At the
rail where the bridge was cut
off, was a grizzled old guy and
a ten year old kid. We couldn't
help overhearing their conversation.
Very shortly, I realized that
they had a small, gold box with
them and a bottle of Miller
Beer. They were getting
ready to dump the kid's father
into his final resting place.
We made a hasty exit rather
than intrude on their time,
but it was seriously strange.
After all, who wants a bottle
of Miller poured on them?
