Doing the Can-can
Finally had a decent day. Mike T and I paddled the layout boats to our old haunts because that was the only place we might see a duck.
There were tons of power boats in line to launch, but very few at the kayak entrance. We made it out and just had time to get our decoys out and get set up.
Things started out fast. We each had four ducks in the first hour. Mike even dropped a canvasback. There were several more opportunities, but our shooting was rusty. Still, most of our birds were feet down, cupped and committed, over the decoys. Mike got one more ringer and the marsh went cold.
We had to pack it up at 9. Mike ended up with 4 ringers and a can. I had 3 ringers and a drake bwt. I got first, he got most and biggest, and we tied for only.
There wasn’t a whole lot of shooting from other hunters in our marsh. We had the hot spot, but may have killed all the ducks in the marsh.
I had to clean my ducks the next day because my local grandson wanted to watch. He only lasted a couple of minutes before he got distracted and ran off.
