You FL guys are crazy! Worst thing that we might encounter in the Snake is a carp. Yikes!

NGGP,

I've never heard of a duck hunter getting attacked by a gator. They stay clear of men with guns. If you are hunting deeper water, gators will get outside your spread and wait to retrieve your ducks. A friend of mine has a picture of a gator eating one of his ringers.

My biggest concern on these too-warm-hunt-days are moccasins. They like to hide out in the bulrushes. I went hunting a crippled ringer last year in the reeds. I had gotten into an open area in the middle when I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. When I looked over it was a big, black scaly back of a moccasin sliding over the back of a clump of goo. I shot it once and then again. I left the ringer for the snake and left. The guys the next impoundment over told us that they had shot a snake that morning too. Those critters are very aggressive and will climb in the boat with you.
