Duck Season
Today was opening day. We had a great scout last Saturday and
had the honey hole all picked out. Only thing, the river dropped
8 inches over the last week. The hole was shrunk, the black
bellied whistlers had cleared out, and we only squeeked out
two mottles between four of us. There were a few other
chances, but we were so on top of one another that safety
trumped opportunity.
Thank God, though, I nodded off on the drive home and
ended half a lane over on the interstate. Neither we nor
anyone else got hurt.
